Here we come a Wassailing. .. .

Phi Theta Kappa has been spreading holiday cheer this December to residents at area nursing homes and assisted living facilities.  After handing out holiday cards and jingle bells, we sing a few songs with the residents often joining in.  The effort is so worthwhile, seeing the smiles on their faces, and how much they enjoy singing along with us.

One more chance to join us. ..  . Monday, December 10th at 6:00 pm  at Meadow Ridge, 1700 Jefferson Street.  Look for info on a carpool from campus at about 5:15.

President’s Message

Being part of an organization such as Phi Theta Kappa is an honor, but it sometimes seems like a double-edged sword. While we had to be good students to earn an invitation to join, we have to remain good students to continue. And sometimes, when the end of the semester is fast approaching, one more obligation might feel like just too much. Why would anyone want to volunteer their time to tutor at the library, sing to senior citizens, plant a garden or clean up a highway? After all, we have HOMEWORK to do!!

Why? Because, at the end of the day, it is what we do that makes us who we are. Our chapter has an emphasis on leadership and service to our own local community. Our local chapter, right here, is where my seemingly small contribution can make a big difference. My contribution can have an affect on peoples’ lives here on campus and in the community. What I do, my actions, commitment and follow-through will make a difference in my life as well. I encourage all of our new inductees to get involved in at least one opportunity with the local chapter. Working together, we can make a difference.
